About

We are Lesley and Tony, a husband and wife team, who work together to design and fashion pieces of original jewellery. We have been crafting unusual pieces of silver jewellery for friends and family for many years, using our own registered hallmark. Whilst investigating new and exciting ways of using silver and glass in harmony, we discovered the intriguing technique of dichroic glass-fusing.

Leslie Byers

I have always been excited by shape, form and colour and started sketching horses from the age of 4, later graduating to portraits of friends, family and their pets, painting with acrylics and watercolours. In dichroic glass, I discovered the ultimate medium: the magical translucency of watercolours combined with the robust brilliance of glass. I was hooked! I quickly purchased a glass-fusing kiln and began developing my own style. Friends and colleagues were soon requesting specially-made pieces.

Each piece of fused glass jewellery is individually hand-crafted by me - there is no production line! Every one of my pieces is hand-cut, with textures and patterns selected for special effect. Using my knowledge of light and colour, I select each piece of glass to reflect a particular mood and form and may use four or five layers and multiple firings to achieve this. My aim is to create something beautiful but different; something eye-catching and unique that will bring pleasure to those who wear it and provoke comment from those who see it.

Tony is my husband and life-long best friend. He maintains my website, takes the photographs, and mounts the bails on the pendants. He trained in the art of hand-made silver jewellery and uses his skill to craft any sterling silver pieces I require.

Our Commitment to Quality

All our bails are solid sterling silver; brooch attachments and earring hooks are also sterling silver. Our chains are quality sterling silver snake-chains. We abrade both glass and bail before we cold fuse them to provide optimum adhesion and use only specialised industrial quality adhesive. Each item will be packaged in a gift box unless otherwise requested. Needless to say, we offer a 15-day, no quibble money back guarantee.
I hope you enjoy wearing our unique pieces of jewellery as much as we enjoy making them!

What is Dichroic Glass?

Originally developed for the aerospace industry, dichroic glass is formed when a microscopic layer of metal oxides such as magnesium, silver, titanium, gold is deposited upon a glass sheet in a vacuum furnace. The resulting layer both emits and reflects light in two wavelengths (di = two, chroic = light). This gives the glass the appearance of two layers of colour, much like the natural iridescence of a kingfisher’s feathers or a dragonfly's wing.
